What to Expect
The run is under 10m long — but it moves underneath you, so it never ends. No chairlift, no queue. You can also book our separate SkyTech simulator to dial in turns on Olympic slalom courses. We’re the first in the UK to have both machines under one roof.
Sessions come in 30-minute or one-hour slots, booked exclusively: you or your group get the slope and the instructor to yourselves. Only two people ski at a time, so friends of different abilities take it in turns. The watching is useful — seeing someone else get the same correction from the outside tends to land faster than hearing it yourself.
Coaching and all equipment — skis, boots, poles, helmet — are included.
On your own, 30 minutes is plenty; it’s a tiring half hour. If you want longer, we’d suggest two 30-minute sessions with a proper break rather than a straight hour. Groups of four should book the hour. We cap it at two people per half hour so everyone gets real slope time.
Treat it as a gym session for your skiing, and it’ll be one of the most efficient half-hours you spend on your technique all year.
Beginners
Our slope is great for beginners too.
You’ll cover in one session what normally takes a full day on the mountain — we’ve had people skip the nursery slopes entirely on their second day away. More skiing with the people you go away with!
No experience needed, and nothing to buy: skis, boots, and helmet are provided, and an instructor is with you throughout.
Speed and steepness are adjustable, so we start gentle and build from there.
You’ll get comfortable in the boots, find a balanced stance, and learn to control your speed — snowplough first, then linked turns. Progress comes fast because the instructor is right beside you, correcting you mid-turn rather than shouting from the bottom of a run.
Sessions are 30 minutes or an hour, booked exclusively for you or your group. Only two people ski at a time, so a pair takes it in turns — watching is part of the learning.
Wear flexible clothes covering arms and legs, plus long socks. Full ski kit will cook you; the hall sits around 15–18°C, and the surface is slightly damp.
Come with no expectations beyond having a go. Most people are sliding and turning within their first session.
Intermediates
Intermediate is the level the revolving slope suits best, because most intermediate plateaus are caused by a small number of repeatable habits rather than by lack of mileage. Common focuses:
- Stance and balance — getting off the back seat, centring fore-aft pressure, stopping the upper body from following the skis round.
- Parallel consistency — cleaning up a turn that goes parallel when you’re relaxed and reverts to a plough when you’re loaded or rushed.
- Edge engagement and carving — swapping a skidded, pivoted turn for a clean carved arc driven by edge angle.
- Pressure and rhythm — short, linked turns at a set tempo, which the constant belt speed enforces naturally.
- Pre-season and in-season sharpening — We have worked with various race teams and have a very heavy focus on technical development to give you the understanding you deserve.
We work with Carv, the digital ski coaching system, so data-led feedback on edge angle and pressure may form part of the session.
Advanced Skiers
On your first experience of going on our slope, you will find the sensation strange to begin with but eventually you’ll be linking controlled parallel turns as if you were on snow!
How many times have you come to a stop on the slopes in the mountains and accelerated back to the top instead? Never, we assume. The slope takes a little getting used to, we have proudly helped coach many high-level competitive skiers. All of whom also had to go into a snow plough first to get used to the concept of the carpet but eventually repeated the same drills as they would if they were out training for a big race in resort.
- All of our sessions include a maximum ratio of 2:1
- Every session is private for up to two people.
- The price is per session, not per participant. If two people share a session, do be aware that it works better with two people of similar ability on the slope at the same time.
- Intermediates can learn to carve turns and get snow fit before a holiday.
- Experts can finesse technique using video analysis and Carv technology.
- You don’t waste any time getting back up the mountain so you learn faster!
Did You Know?
There are only three revolving ski slopes in the UK, but in the Netherlands, where the concept started twenty years ago, there are over fifty indoor ski centres with over 150 slopes.
- One hour at full speed is the equivalent of skiing from the top of Everest to sea level and takes about 1,800 turns!
- On a dry ski slope you spend approximately ten seconds going down and three minutes getting back up the slope.
- In a ski resort, for every minute of skiing you will spend five minutes on a lift.
- Turning is learning. We give you more turns per pound £.
